Biography:
Coach, Mark Buckland, is entering his 5th year as the Varsity Wrestling Coach and his 16th year as
a wrestling coach serving as the GL youth coach, middle school coach, and as the varsity
assistant coach helping guide the Comets to two MHSAA state semifinal runs in 2003 and 2005.
He also served as a member of the Lansing Wrestling Officials Association where he officiated
varsity high school wrestling for 4 years. Coach Buckland is a 1993 Portland High School
graduate where he wrestled to an undefeated state title in 1993. Coach was also a 1997 Olivet
College graduate where he wrestled and was a 3x NCAA National qualifier, 3x Academic All-
American and served as a 3x captain of his team. Currently, Coach Buckland teaches STEM
classes at Beagle Middle School in Grand Ledge. Coach Buckland and his wife Angie live in
Grand Ledge with their three children Grace, Drew and Markie.
Biography:
Coach Hutchinson has been coaching for over two decades. He was an assistant track coach in Hastings MI in 2001 and 2002 and the head girls track coach in 2003. He came to Grand Ledge in the summer of 2003 and was assistant MS coach for 2 years during the 03/04 and 04/05 school years. He was co-head coach of the MS track program during the 05/06 and 06/07 school years. He then became the varsity girls cross country and track and field coach during the 07-08 school year and has been in that position ever since.
