Boys Varsity BB Triumphant in Home Opener against Lansing Eastern

Boys Varsity were triumphant in their home-opener against Eastern on Thursday 43-31.
“Very proud of this team tonight. A very important life skill is responding to adversity and learning to overcome it and I think we did that tonight”. Coach Lewis states.
The first half told a much different story than Tuesday as the Comets were locked in defensively from the start of the game forcing the Quakers to many errors and turnovers. While they were in foul trouble from the start, the home team only managed to foul one time in the second quarter after six fouls in the first. While the fouls went down the intensity was still high and the opposing Quakers only scored four points in the second quarter. The first half was dominated by the team's performance from the charity stripe, where they went 9/11 for the first half.
"Our effort was there, our attitudes were better and that affected the outcome of the game. We let them on a bit of a run but our guys were able to buckle down and deliver which extended our lead back to where it was." Lewis said.
The second half, as explained by Lewis previously, was more on the quiet end, but when the game came down to big plays and need for execution, Grand Ledge delivered and was able to build back their lead that they had. The second half was capped off by a team high 18 point fourth quarter. The boys that lead the way scoring wise were Javel Lewis with 12 and Jarred Houghton with 11 .
When asked about the energy and excitement that the team was able to use, the coach without hesitation stated "Our Bench Mob was engaged and guys that were asked to step up, stepped up. True team win against a much improved Eastern." Coach finished with
