Girls Junior Varsity Basketball vs. Williamston High School

Comets Lose: 37 - 42
The Grand Ledge JV Lady Comets improved their record to 9-5 (5-3 CAAC Blue) with a 56-52 home win over conference rival Waverly.  The game was close early on, but the Lady Comets built a 9 point lead to end the first half thanks to some hot shooting by Kaedyn Hirschman and Ellie Baynes, as well as strong post play by Claire Willoughby.  The Warriors stormed back in the second half, cutting the lead to just 1 point.  The Lady Comets were able to seal the win with clutch shooting from Baynes, Willoughby, and Hirschman.  Willoughby led Grand Ledge with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Baynes added 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Hirschman contributed 7 points and 4 rebounds.  The JV Lady Comets are back in action on Tuesday as they host Portland.

Comets Win: 55 - 29
The Grand Ledge JV Lady Comets improved their record to 7-4 (3-3 CAAC Blue)Tuesday night with a 55-29 win over visiting Charlotte.  The Comets jumped out to a 31-18 half-time lead behind Kaedyn HIrschman's 3 for 3 second quarter shooting from behind the 3-point arc.  Grand Ledge extended the lead in the second half with outstanding team defense, holding the Lady Orioles to just 4 points in the 4th quarter.  The Lady Comets were led in scoring by Hirschman's 11 points.  Claire Willoughby contributed 9 points to the scoring effort.  Paris Rhodes, Kylee Skutar, and Ellie Baynes added 6 points each.  Baynes also led the team with 7 rebounds and 7 steals.  The JV Lady Comets travel to Okemos Thursday night for a CAAC Blue Conference rematch.

Comets Win: 45 - 36
The Grand Ledge JV Lady Comets defeated East Lansing by a score of 45-36 Thursday night to improve their record to 6-2 (2-1 CAAC Blue).  The contest was a hard-fought battle between two closely matched teams.  Grand Ledge led by two points at the end of the 1st quarter behind some hot shooting by Ellie Baynes and Lynnaye Croely-White.  East Lansing stayed close throughout the game, tying it up at half-time and trailing by only two at the end of the 3rd quarter.  The Lady Comets pulled away in the 4th with an outstanding team defensive effort, holding East Lansing to only 5 points in the final quarter.  Grand Ledge was led by Baynes' 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Claire Willoughby provided outstanding inside play for Grand Ledge finishing with 10 points and 8 rebounds.  The Lady Comets are back in action next week, hosting conference opponents DeWitt and Holt.

Comets Win: 54 - 7
The Grand Ledge JV Lady Comets returned to action this week with a 54-7 victory against Lansing Everett bringing their overall record to 5-2 (1-1).  The Lady Comets were up early, taking a 21-5 lead into halftime.  Grand Ledge put up 33 points in the second half, while holding Everett to two points to seal the win.  The Lady Comets were led in scoring by Lynnaye Croley-White and Claire Willoughby with 10 points each.  Willoughby also pulled down 8 rebounds.  Paris Rhodes contributed 6 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.  Grand Ledge travels to East Lansing Thursday night for another CAAC Blue conference match-up.

Comets Win: 54 - 50
The Junior Varsity Lady Comets defeated Haslett Tuesday night 37-28 to improve to 3-0 on the season.  The game was a hard fought contest with Grand Ledge leading 18-13 at the half.  Haslett kept it close all night, with the Lady Comets eventually pulling away in the 4th quarter for the win.  Ellie Baynes led the way for Grand Ledge with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Adi Schroeder had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
