For the second time in school history Grand Ledge gymnasts swept the all-around individual state titles at the MHSAA Gymnastics Championships held Saturday at White Lake High School.
Alaina Yaney scored the individual all-around title in Division 1 while Lydia Beaton finished as the Division 2 all-around state champ.
Eleven years ago the Comets accomplished the same feat when Christine Wilson and Sarah Peltierwon the Divisionn I and Division 2 titles.
Yaney finished the championship meet with a score of 38.075, winning the vault for the second straight season with a 9.7. Alaina also brought home the individual state title on he balance beam with a 9.475. She also was third in the uneven bars and second on the floor capping an incredible performance.
Beaton's all-around total of 36.650 gave her the Division 2 title. Lydia won the beam with a 9.75 before winning the vault for the second straight season with a 9.45. A fifth place finish on the floor exercise along with a solid performance on the floor clinched the Division 2 championship.
