The State Finals started out great for Isabel Kelly of Grand Ledge! She began her round with 5 pars and as the day progressed the wind picked up the temp went down. Isabel maintained her focus, playing a really good round of golf and at the end of the day (round 1). Isabel fired a very nice 81 placing her individually in a tie for 16th place heading into the second round. "A really well played round of golf for her first time at the State Finals," coach Jeff Miller said.
As day two arrived and the pairings were announced Isabel found herself paired with two of the very best Division 1 players in the state. The weather was decidedly cooler, the stakes were higher and the course was set up more difficult than day one.
Isabel again rose to the challenge starting off the day with a couple of great pars in very difficult conditions and was poised to make a nice run however as the day continued the weather got cooler, the wind got stronger and scoring for our young Lady Comet was more difficult but Isabel continued her impressive play doing the very best she could do and as a result of that effort she finished her first appearance at the State Finals with a very impressive 19th place overall finish.
"In the end the State Finals for Isabel was a huge success, she played really well and I'm very proud of what she accomplished," Miller said. "She represented Grand Ledge in a manner you would expect, making all of us very proud, well done young lady well done!"
