The Grand Ledge Varsity boys cross country team finished their season with an incredible 10th place competing at the MHSAA Division 1 State Finals. The team of Rylen Richey, Nolan Lounds, Alex McKennon, Caelan Marsh, Ben Rottier, Lincoln Morden, and Dayton Vandermoere had an incredible day at the meet with Rylen, Nolan, and Alex all ran lifetime best times of 15:52.8, 16:07.0, and 16:08.3, respectively. There are a few historically significant things to note about this finish. This is the best finish for any Boys Cross Country team at Grand Ledge since 2003. Additionally, outside of the 2001 and 2003 Grand Ledge Boys teams, this is the best finish at the Division 1 Finals for any Lansing area boys team in the 21st century; the next best finish in the past 25 years was Okemos at 11th place in 2017. The West and Southeast parts of the state have historically dominated in Division 1 Cross Country, so these boys accomplishing what they did against some incredibly strong programs is truly remarkable. We are incredibly proud of what these boys have accomplished in a historic season while competing against the best of the best in Division 1.
