Yesterday, at DeWitt High School, in a close battle with Brighton, the boys Cross Country team came in second place at their MHSAA Regional Meet, qualifying as a Team for the MHSAA Cross Country State Finals. The crew of Rylen Richey, Nolan Lounds, Ben Rottier, Alex McKennon, Caelan Marsh, Dayton Vandermoere, and Lincoln Morden is the first team from Grand Ledge to qualify for the Cross Country State Finals since 2013. Of particular note on the individual side of things, Rylen Richey, Ben Rottier, and Nolan Lounds earned All-Region Honors. Additionally, Nolan Lounds and Alex McKennon ran Lifetime Personal Records of 16:10.7 and 16:20.0, respectively. Qualifying for the Finals as a team is an incredibly challenging feat in Division 1 Cross Country, and we are incredibly proud of these young men for playing their part in making Grand Ledge Athletics History as a TEAM! The final scores for the top of the 16-team field were: 1. Brighton - 54 2. Grand Ledge - 72 3. Ann Arbor Skyline - 104 4. Howell - 121 5. Okemos - 131 6. Dexter - 135 7. East Lansing - 160 8. Holt - 162 The boys will race in the MHSAA Division 1 State Finals on Saturday, November 1st at 3:30pm at Michigan International Speedway in Jackson, Michigan. Please congratulate them and wish them luck this week as we keep chasing our goals!
