GLHS names Jason Smith as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach

Grand Ledge High School Athletic Director Steve Baker has announced the hiring of Jason Smith as the new head coach of the baseball program. . “I am thrilled to welcome Jason Smith to his new role in the program as our head baseball coach,” said Athletic Director Steve Baker. “Coach Smith is a man of principle and character. His leadership, coaching, and involvement in this community’s baseball programs over the years has directly benefited the high school program that he now coaches. His commitment to developing student athletes both on and off the field aligns perfectly with our district’s values. We are confident he is the right person to build on our program’s rich history and lead us to new heights.” Prior to being named head coach, Smith served as an assistant coach for the 2025 season, helping the Comets to a 27-10 record and a 30th Diamond Classic Title Coach Smith previously served as the President of the Grand Ledge Bullpen Club Association and Grand Ledge Youth Baseball organizations. “I am incredibly honored and humbled to be named the head baseball coach in Grand Ledge,” said Coach Smith. “This is a historic program and my coaching staff and I are excited to get to work with the student-athletes, administration, alumni, and this community to build another championship-caliber team.” Coach Smith and his wife Tanya, a teacher in the district, and their three children have been Grand Ledge residents for over two decades.
